Have you ever looked at a young person giving profound life advice and thought, 'What do they know? They haven’t lived long enough!' Or perhaps you’ve looked at an ancient tradition and dismissed it as 'outdated' simply because of its age. We live in a world obsessed with timelines, birthdates, and expiration dates. We judge the validity of a message by the age of the messenger. We are, in many ways, exactly like Arjuna in the fourth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita.

In this specific verse, Arjuna is genuinely puzzled. He looks at Krishna, his friend and contemporary, and says, 'Krishna, you were born recently. But the Sun god, Vivasvan, was born at the very beginning of creation. How can you claim that you taught this Yoga to him so long ago?' Arjuna is trapped in the logic of linear time. He sees Krishna as a physical body born in a specific year, limited by the same biological clock as everyone else.

Krishna’s response, which follows this verse, is a revelation of the eternal. But before we get to the answer, we must sit with Arjuna’s question. It represents the limit of the human intellect. We often struggle to see the 'Timeless' because we are so focused on the 'Temporary.' We see the wave, but we forget the ocean. We see the lightbulb, but we ignore the electricity that has existed long before the bulb was manufactured.

The practical lesson here is about shifting our perspective from the 'Form' to the 'Essence.' In our daily lives, we often dismiss opportunities or wisdom because they don't fit into our narrow definition of how things should look. A junior employee might have a solution that saves a company, but a senior manager might ignore it due to 'lack of experience.' A child might say something deeply spiritual, but we brush it off as 'cute' rather than 'profound.'

Consider the example of a master artist and their apprentice. The apprentice looks at a finished masterpiece and thinks it was created in the few weeks they spent in the studio. But the master knows that the painting is a result of decades of observation, thousands of failures, and a creative spark that is older than the master's own body. The 'art' is timeless; the 'canvas' is new.

When we apply this wisdom, we stop being cynical. We start looking for the eternal truth in every situation. Whether it is a lesson from a 5,000-year-old scripture or a modern scientific discovery, we realize that Truth is not a product of time; it is the foundation upon which time is built. By recognizing the timeless nature of the soul (Atman) and the Supreme Consciousness, we free ourselves from the anxiety of aging and the fear of being 'late' in life. We realize that we are part of a grand, eternal continuity.

Moral: True wisdom and the eternal essence of life are not bound by the limitations of age, time, or physical appearance.
